Week of Sept. 21
She Rear-Ended Her…Then Got a Hug
A new driver had her first-ever accident and rear-ended another woman. She was already having a rough couple of weeks and was completely overwhelmed — so what did the other driver do? She hugged her and told her everything was going to be okay.
That one act of kindness opened the floodgates to moms sharing their own first-accident stories. Our favorite may have been the teenage boys who comforted one terrified young driver with: “It’s totally fine, dude, my parents have mad insurance.” She later discovered they were mostly relieved the police weren’t too interested in their car. Ahhh, youth.
Posting From Labor & Delivery…Literally!
One mom checked into the group while delivering at AAMC with a message for all the nervous pregnant mamas: Don’t be scared!
Even with the hospital’s system down, she said the nurses and doctors were wonderful, medications were arriving quickly, and she got her epidural within an hour of asking. One mom whose overdue daughter was about to be induced said the perfectly timed post gave her some much-needed reassurance.
WHY Does My Toilet Still Smell Like Pee?!
This is the kind of hard-hitting journalism we do here at Annapolis Moms.
One mom has cleaned the toilet. Her house cleaner has cleaned the toilet. She’s taken apart the seat, scrubbed the grout and cleaned it AGAIN. The pee smell keeps coming back.
Moms went full CSI: Bathroom Edition. Suspects included the toilet seal, screws, hinges, seat seams, grout and the area between the toilet and the floor. Then came perhaps the most accurate answer of all: “If you have kids, who knows where they get pee.” Case closed.
Downtown Annapolis Parking: We Need to Talk.
Which garage? Which app? Did you pay enough? Did you get a ticket anyway? One mom shared her frustration with downtown parking and encouraged others to check out an appeal spearheaded by Level.
Then another mom shared a doozy: She paid her parking ticket AND the administrative fee, but a flag remained on her car preventing her from renewing her registration. Her attempts to get it fixed turned into an exhausting maze of phone calls and dead ends.
The thread made one thing very clear: People are frustrated — and they want downtown parking to be easier.
$400 A MONTH FOR CELL PHONES?!
Three phones. One tablet. $400 every month. One mom finally asked the group: Is this normal?!
Apparently, it was time for a group-wide cell phone bill audit. One mom practically shouted from the rooftops about paying $25/month with Visible, while another shared that she pays about $306 with T-Mobile for four phones, insurance, a tablet, AND home Wi-Fi.
And somewhere across Anne Arundel County, moms immediately started opening their wireless bills and asking: WAIT…WHAT AM I PAYING FOR?!
