Week of Oct. 19
Grandpa, She’s THREE, Not Your Sparring Partner!
One mom is struggling with a grandpa who responds to her three-year-old daughter’s sass with some sass of his own. When the little girl said she didn’t want to see him, Grandpa replied, “Fine, then I’ll leave and you’ll never see me again.”
Days later, the little girl burst into tears, genuinely believing Grandpa was gone forever.
Moms had THOUGHTS! Some said Grandpa needs a gentle reminder that three-year-olds take things literally. Others suggested Mom teach her daughter kinder ways to express frustration. And some felt limiting visits might be appropriate. The big question: Who needs the lesson in emotional maturity here?
THIS Is What Makes Annapolis Moms So Special!
A mom posted about an elderly veteran she cares for who is living on a fixed income. His roof was leaking so badly it was raining in his bedroom. He could barely afford food, much less major home repairs.
And then something wonderful happened.
Moms started offering help, including people willing to repair the roof for FREE! But Matt from Central Maryland Construction and his wife, Alex, stepped up immediately.
Matt went to the veteran’s home and FIXED THE ROOF!
No endless paperwork. No waiting to get picked for a giveaway. No waiting around.
This one deserves a standing ovation.
Are We Teaching Our Kids Enough About Consent?
A mom shared that the recent Cornell discussion had her thinking about what she’s teaching her son — and whether one conversation about consent is really enough.
How do we raise boys and girls who understand boundaries, respect the word NO, and know when and how to stand up for others?
Moms shared books, YouTube resources, and ways to have age-appropriate conversations about consent, respect, and speaking up.
Because this isn’t just one awkward conversation. It’s an ongoing lesson we all need to be teaching.
Why Does Fruit Keep Giving My Daughter a Rash?
One mom noticed something strange: Every time her daughter eats fruit, she develops a rash. Vegetables? No problem. Fruit? Here we go again.
The Annapolis Moms detective squad immediately got to work!
Suggestions included allergy testing, checking for contact irritation, keeping a detailed food diary and making an appointment with her pediatrician.
Because when your child breaks out after snack time, suddenly every strawberry, blueberry and piece of watermelon becomes a suspect.
These Aren’t Just Period Cramps.
One mom shared that her daughter experiences menstrual pain so severe she’s screaming, sweating, vomiting and struggling with bowel symptoms for hours at a time. Every. Single. Month.
Medication helped temporarily, but the debilitating pain has returned, and Mom is desperate for answers.
The response was overwhelming. Women shared their own experiences with endometriosis, severe menstrual pain and bleeding disorders. Some had gone years without getting a diagnosis.
Recommendations included seeing a gynecologist, discussing possible underlying conditions and consulting specialists such as the Washington Endometriosis Center.
The important reminder? Pain this severe deserves medical attention — and our daughters deserve to be heard.
