Take the Family Out to a Baysox Game

July 18, 2026 by Tyler Ingle

A summer night at the ballpark is about more than what happens between the first pitch and the final out. At a Chesapeake Baysox game, families can catch heavy hitters in action, enjoy classic ballpark food, and take part in promotions that make nearly every home game feel extra special.

Formerly known as the Bowie Baysox, the longtime Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles adopted the Chesapeake Baysox name ahead of the 2025 season to better reflect its regional fan base. The team has played for more than 30 years and continues to call Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie home, just a short drive from Annapolis.

One of the biggest draws of minor league baseball is the steady lineup of promotions. Depending on the game, fans may find postgame fireworks, giveaways, autograph sessions, theme nights, and other activities alongside the baseball itself. Sunday games are often designed with families in mind, while select dates throughout the season recognize military members, welcome dogs, or offer other special experiences. Check the promotional schedule before choosing a game so you can find the event that best fits your crew.

Bring the Whole Group

The Baysox also offer several options for birthdays, reunions, company outings and other group events.

The tented Budweiser Picnic Pavilion includes an all-you-can-eat buffet with ballpark favorites such as hamburgers and hot dogs. Private suites and outdoor party areas provide additional choices for groups that want their own space while still enjoying the atmosphere of the stadium.

The Diamond View Restaurant, located behind home plate on the suite level, provides a climate-controlled place to take a break from the weather without missing the action. Access and availability can vary by game and ticket type, so review the current group and stadium information before making plans.

Perks for Younger and Older Fans

Fans who want to become more involved can also explore the team’s clubs and special programs.

The Futures Club gives young Baysox fans access to kid-focused ticket offers, events, and surprises throughout the season. Fans ages 55 and older can join the free Silver Sox Senior Club. Members receive access to special events, $10 reserved-seat tickets on Thursdays, baseball bingo every Thursday, and use of a private, climate-controlled suite when available.

Plan Your Visit

The Baysox are scheduled to close their 2026 home season Sept. 6 against the Portland Sea Dogs. The team’s official schedule includes game times, ticket availability, and promotions for each remaining matchup.

Before heading to the stadium, review its policies and directions, especially rules concerning bags, outside food, pets, and other items. Prince George’s Stadium serves familiar ballpark fare, including hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, fries, nachos, ice cream, and beer.

Whether you come for the baseball, the fireworks, or the chance to run the bases, a Baysox game offers an easy summer outing with enough entertainment to keep fans engaged long after the first pitch.
