The 1 A.M. Cat Wars Have Officially Gone Too Far
Imagine waking up at 1 AM convinced someone is breaking into your house. Then again at 3. And 5.
The culprits? The neighbors’ outdoor cats.
They’ve apparently made it their nightly mission to launch themselves at the windows and terrorize the family’s indoor cat, who is now pulling out his hair while his humans are walking around completely sleep-deprived.
Moms suggested everything from talking to the neighbors to calling Animal Control, but the crowd favorite may have been a motion-activated sprinkler. We are definitely going to need an update on this one.
Maryland Fall Just Isn’t Fall-ing Hard Enough
One Upstate New York transplant had a simple fall wish: a cup of warm apple cider, a cider donut and maybe some live music. Is that too much to ask?!
Apparently, Maryland fall has some explaining to do because several fellow Northerners agreed that our version can be a little…underwhelming.
Still, moms came through with suggestions including Gaver Farm, Doc Waters Cidery, Butler’s Orchard and Shaw Orchards, with one mom recommending a stop at Inverness Brewing afterward. Basically, if Maryland won’t bring Upstate New York fall to you, road trip!
He Called Off the Engagement. Who Gets the Ring?
A mom asked a question guaranteed to get people talking: If HE calls off the engagement, does SHE have to give back the ring? And does having a child together change anything?
Plenty of moms had strong opinions, but many cautioned her not to rely on Facebook legal advice. Several commenters said Maryland generally treats an engagement ring as a gift conditioned on the marriage actually happening — meaning the answer may not be as simple as “He ended it, so keep it!”
Our takeaway: This is probably one where you call an actual Maryland attorney before heading to the jewelry store.
If You Could Start Your Career Over at 40+, What Would You Choose?
One mom in her 40s is considering going back to school with a very specific goal: a career that could allow her to financially support her two children AND her elderly parents.
Moms came armed with ideas. Engineering, radiology, sonography, paralegal work, skilled trades and cybersecurity all made the list. One mom pointed out that certain cyber careers may value certifications over another full college degree, while others strongly recommended trades like electrical work.
It turned into a fascinating conversation about which careers are actually worth pursuing if you were starting over today.
Where Does a 5’1″, 50-Year-Old Teacher Find Cute Clothes?!
The assignment: Stylish. Age-appropriate. Affordable. Petite. Modern classic with a little edge. Oh, and please don’t make her spend another $20 altering every single thing she buys!
Moms understood the mission.
Recommendations ranged from Amazon and YouTube fashion inspiration to Stellaluna Raine Boutique, where one 4’11” mom said she was given around 20 dress options — all under $50! Thrifters also chimed in with 2nd Ave in Laurel and Savvy Consignment in Severna Park.
Because apparently finding pants when you’re 5’1″ shouldn’t require a tailor, a second mortgage and an act of Congress.
