Week of Oct. 5
The Great Third Baby Debate 👶👶…👶?
Two kids under two? Survived. Naps finally aligned? Check. Kids entertaining each other? Hallelujah. Childcare costs about to plummet? Yay! So naturally…it’s time to consider starting all over again.
One mom asked how families decide whether to go for number three when their hearts say big family but their exhausted brains say WE JUST GOT OUR LIVES BACK! Responses were all over the map. Some moms said two was absolutely perfect and encouraged enjoying more couple time. Others said the hard baby years are short compared with decades of having the bigger family they dreamed of. And then came the warnings: Several moms tried for number three…and got number three AND number four. TWINS! Choose wisely, friends.
When Do You Know It’s Time to Walk Away?
After 15 years together, one mom shared an incredibly vulnerable question. She still loves her husband and says he’s a wonderful father — but she no longer feels like his wife.
After years of carrying the financial load, dealing with $80K in debt, receiving little affection outside of sex, enduring forgotten birthdays and anniversaries, sleeping separately and repeatedly asking for change that only lasts a few weeks, she’s exhausted. Her question wasn’t simply “Should I leave?” It was: Can you still love someone and realize love might not be enough?
Moms overwhelmingly encouraged individual and couples counseling before making such a life-changing decision, with many sharing their own experiences navigating difficult seasons in long marriages.
The 1 A.M. Cat Wars Have Officially Gone Too Far
Imagine waking up at 1 a.m. convinced someone is breaking into your house. Then again at 3. And 5.
The culprits? The neighbors’ outdoor cats.
They’ve apparently discovered that launching themselves at the windows is an excellent way to torment the indoor cat — and his humans. Their cat is now pulling out his hair and the family is completely sleep deprived.
Moms suggested everything from calling animal control to talking with the neighbors, but our favorite practical idea? A motion-activated sprinkler. We’re going to need an update on this one.
She Wanted a Book Club. Annapolis Moms Said: DONE.
A Davidsonville/Riva mom posted that she loves psychological thrillers, wants to meet more people, and wondered if anyone might be interested in starting a book club.
Apparently…YES.
At least 20 women immediately wanted in. Someone offered a downtown Annapolis location with parking, existing local book clubs were suggested, and Wyrd Books got a shout-out. Before long, the Women’s Annapolis Book Club Facebook group was born.
This might be our favorite kind of Annapolis Moms post: “I wish this existed.” → “Okay, now it does.”
The HOA vs. the F-350
One husband gets a promotion AND a company truck. Great news, right?
Enter the HOA.
The family says they’re being told the branded F-350 can’t be parked at their home because it’s considered a commercial vehicle — even though it’s only used to commute, his employer requires him to take it home and no business is conducted there.
Moms had THOUGHTS. Some suggested carefully checking both the HOA bylaws and county rules, particularly any vehicle-weight provisions. Others offered more creative solutions, including large white magnets over the company logos.
The lesson of the week: Sometimes the promotion is the easy part. Parking the truck might require a law degree.
