Rainy Friday lunch dates might just be our new favorite tradition—especially when they land us at Preserve in Downtown Annapolis. This cozy, energetic little spot is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates thoughtful food, good vibes, and a well-curated menu.
The atmosphere hits all the right notes: bright, welcoming, and buzzing with positive energy. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel taken care of. The staff? Warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food they’re serving. The menu leans plant-forward in a really creative way—but carnivores, don’t worry, you’re not forgotten. There’s balance here, and it works.
We started with drinks, because, of course. A house-made ginger soda brought that fresh, zingy kick we didn’t know we needed, while the lemonade found that sweet spot between tart and refreshing—basically sunshine in a glass.

To start, we shared the crispy kale appetizer. Tempura-battered and lightly salted, it was crisp, airy, and full of flavor. It felt intentional—not an afterthought or overly heavy plate, but something that truly set the stage for the meal.
For mains, my wife went with the soft-shell crab sandwich, a daily special layered with crispy kale, house-made pickles, and a zesty lemon aioli. It was crunchy, bright, and totally satisfying. I opted for the teriyaki lion’s mane mushrooms, which were light but packed with umami and a gentle heat that lingered in the best way.
We didn’t leave room for dessert this time, but the vegan and gluten-free pot de crème definitely caught our eye—something to look forward to on our next visit.
Bottom line: Preserve delivers. It’s a thoughtful, delicious experience whether you’re into veggies, seafood, or just a really good lunch. Annapolis foodies, take note.
