Local Food Finds

June 25, 2024 by Sarah Amyot

Your weekly dose of some cool food and dining finds around town

Farragut Farmers’ Market Kick Off, Dinner and a Classic, Pizza Kits, Chef’s Feast for 2, and a Rosé Soirée

Have a suggestion? We’d love to hear from you – submit it HERE!

Eating, drinking, and shopping, while supporting local businesses should be the theme song of 2024. The Farragut Farmers’ Market kicked off last weekend and featured tons of local eats, drinks, and small businesses. Check them out at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Sundays from 8 am to 12 pm, and be sure to visit vendors like Zee’s Bees Honey, Rooted, Annapolis Juice Shop (formerly RASA), My Mustard Seed, Coastal Canyon Seafood, Diehl’s Produce, Eesh’s Pieces, Shameless Sweets, Rustic Ridge Farm, Nina’s Cookie Explosion, Annapurna Farm, Great Harvest Bread Co., Mangia Baby, and AZTK. Two highlights from the market last weekend:

  • Citrus Bros served hand-cranked shaved ice, shaved coffee, and shaved teas. They use homemade syrups using only raw, organic agave and fresh produce. My son slurped and crunched on their orange shaved ice!
  • Stony Man Coffee cooked hot and fresh donut holes, coffee, and refreshers. Try their Samoa donut holes (they taste just like the Girl Scout cookie!), maple bacon hot honey donut holes, and signature cold brewed coffee. On a hot day, their blackberry and blueberry refresher, or key lime pie refresher, is truly refreshing!

Pencil in date nights and GNO (Girls’ Nights Out) until October! This month, Reynold’s Tavern kicked off their Sunday “Dinner and a Classic” Outdoor Screening series in their beer garden. The movie starts when the sky begins to darken (between 8:15-8:30 pm). The kitchen is open until 10 pm and there’s full bar service throughout the evening. Here’s next month’s line up:

  • June 30 – The Thin Man (1934)
  • July 7 – Double Indemnity (1944)
  • July 14 – TBD
  • July 21 – Vertigo (1958)
  • July 28 – JAWS (1975)

Need an activity to keep the kids busy? Order a LaPosta Pizza Kit from LaPosta Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen in Severna Park and make two fresh pizzas in your oven! For $25, the kit comes with two dough balls, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, olive oil, and flour. Extra toppings are $1.25. If you add a bottle of LaPosta wine, it totals out to $35!

Meal Deal Alert! Head to P.F. Chang’s in the Annapolis Towne Center for their Chef’s Feast for 2. Starting at $18.99 per person, choose a soup or salad, one appetizer to share, and one entrée per person to enjoy. We went as a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) and ordered: egg drop soup, house side salad, chicken lettuce wraps to share (a must order!), sesame chicken, and crispy honey shrimp (an additional $3 charge for shrimp). For $5.75, the children shared a kid’s chicken fried rice, which comes with sliced oranges and broccoli. The portions were huge and made delicious leftovers for the next day!

  • Pro Tip: P.F. Chang’s has a $13 express lunch in the bar area. Order and receive your lunch in less than 20 minutes, or lunch is on them!

Hot weather calls for rosé! Mark your calendar for a Rosé Soirée at Ingrano Restaurant and Events on July 16 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Cool off with a tasting of six rosés from around the world. Happy hour snacks and their full menu are available. Tickets are limited, at $35 each.

At AACS, we believe every child is intentionally created in the image of God with unique gifts, abilities, and potential.

Because we are committed to developing the whole child, we recognize that students learn in different ways—and we are dedicated to helping each one flourish spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally.

At AACS, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover their God-given strengths, overcome challenges, and grow into the person they were created to be.
