Airport Parking Lot Halal Cart, Homemade Dessert Jars, and Happy National Tequila Day

  • Located in the BWI airport cell phone lot is the NY Halal Food Cart, a hidden gem reminiscent of the classic New York City food carts. This food cart might just lure you to the airport when you don’t have a flight! They sell a variety of items, including rice platters, gyros, sandwiches, subs, and salads. My go-to order is the $10.99 chicken and lamb rice platter with red and white sauce, which comes with a drink. If you’re unsure about the sauces, you can get them on the side! The next time you need to pick someone up from the airport, go a little early and grab a bite to eat while you wait.
    • The NY Halal Food Cart is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 9:30 pm.
  • If you are looking for a unique place to satisfy your sweet tooth, look no further than Freakin Sweet Jars located in the Annapolis Mall. This family-owned small business serves homemade cake pops, cookies, and dessert in a jar. Flavors range from classic tastes to unique creations. My personal favorites include the banana pudding jar, sweet potato cheesecake jar, brown butter sugar cookie, and snickerdoodle cookie. Warning: everything is delicious!
    • They are located across from the 7-Eleven inside the mall (if you’re at the Discoveries Library and walk towards the family restrooms – it’s that strip).
  • Today, Wednesday July 24 is National Tequila Day! What better way to celebrate than to head to Agave in West Annapolis? They serve over 100 different types of tequila and mezcal! Happy hour is all week long and features $8 fresh hand-squeezed margaritas. Stop by Monday through Wednesday between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm, Thursday and Friday between 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm, or on weekends between 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Cheers!
    • P.S. For the month of July, also enjoy 25% off appetizers, entrees, and sides on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
