I see so many posts from moms looking for “unicorns.” Well I’ve got good news: I found them! For two days only, Sparkles the Unicorn and her many magical friends will be taking over the Baltimore Convention Center for Unicorn World on January 20-21, 2024.
Lauren Mines, who co-founded Unicorn World with her husband Patrick Mines, said the idea for Unicorn World came about out of their desire for family events where kids and parents alike can enjoy spending quality time together and making memories. Their daughter, a unicorn fan, helped them come up with the idea for an event featuring these whimsical creatures, which Mines realized was a concept no one else in the market had tried.
Mines says, “First and foremost, kids come [to Unicorn World] and enjoy the magic of it. But parents also partake in that childlike wonder.”
Mines said the ideal age range for this event is 2-12, but they are also happy to offer a designated space for the littles aged 2 and under to play freely without competing for space with the big kids.
Not only are there unicorns, there are mermaids and fairies too! These special guests can be found frolicking in the Enchanted Forest and flipping their fins in the Looping Lagoon.
Mines says one of her favorite parts of the experience is the grand reveal at the beginning of each event day. “I can still remember– the first few times, I got emotional. There is such excitement and joy on [the kids’] faces; they just want to run down the carpet,” she says.
And who wouldn’t want to run through the seven 14-foot rainbow balloon arches down a wide rainbow carpet, knowing there are unicorns, fairies, mermaids, rides, games, and snacks waiting for you just around the bend?
Planning to go? Here are some helpful tips from Mines and the Unicorn World team:
–Tickets are sold in half-hour time slots, but there is no time limit once you are inside. The team finds that most families spend 2-3 hours meeting the unicorns and in the play areas. Some time slots are already sold out, so purchase tickets sooner than later for a better choice of time slot.
–Kids under 2 are free (and have their own designated play area)!
–Crowds tend to be heavier in the morning. Choose a post-lunch time slot for smaller crowds.
-Speaking of lunch…kid-friendly snacks will be available.
-The journey through the exhibit is immersive: follow along with the interactive story in which kids are asked to help the unicorns.
-It is a cashless event.
–Magic Passes (for unlimited rides), Magical Memento Gift Bags or Birthday Surprises are available for purchase.
–Fun Facts: Unicorn World has 10 photo op spots, and is built using over 10,000 balloons and 35,000 balls for the ball pits. They have welcomed tens of thousands of families!
We all know these magical creatures are rare and elusive, so don’t miss your chance to see them this weekend, January 20-21! Buy your tickets to Unicorn World at the Baltimore Convention Center now!
