Spring is the perfec

Spring is the perfect time to kick things up a notch, but your body definitely needs a “grace period” to adjust to the pavement!

🌸 Here are some sprint training tips from community supporter @opal_physicaltherapy . Here is a quick breakdown of why those rules matter and how to apply them effectively:

Why These Rules Work 🧠

• The 5-10 Minute Warm-Up: Think of your muscles like rubber bands. ➰ If you stretch a cold rubber band quickly, it snaps! A dynamic warm-up (leg swings, high knees) increases blood flow and “wakes up” your nervous system. 🔥

• Gradual Mileage (The 10% Rule): A common standard is never increasing your weekly volume by more than 10%. This gives your tendons and ligaments—which heal slower than muscles—time to adapt. 📈

• Hip & Glute Strength: Strong abductors prevent your knees from collapsing inward (valgus stress), which is the primary cause of “Runner’s Knee.” 🛡️

• Addressing Small Aches: In the PT world, we call this “nipping it in the bud.” A tiny tweak in your calf can lead to a gait change that eventually blows out your hip. 🛑
