The holidays are over and the confetti has been swept away, but there’s no need to be too bummed. The New Year is here! I’ll admit it, I love setting New Year’s resolutions. It’s an opportunity to reflect on life and decide what to prioritize. Maybe your goal is saving money, eating healthier, or spending more quality time with family. Even if you’ve had these resolutions before (mine tend to carry over too), that doesn’t mean you can’t achieve them. We’ve taken the most common resolutions and found the perfect Annapolis businesses and organizations to help. Here’s to making 2026 your year!
Resolution: Take Control of My Finances
Balancing your budget and tracking expenses are everyone’s least-favorite chores. I’d rather clean my entire house! Whether you just want to save more money or tackle debt, it’s time to be in charge of your finances. There are ways to work on today’s challenges while setting yourself up for your financial future.
CovingtonAlsina
No matter if they are offering advice about investing, insurance, business services, or financial planning, CovingtonAlsina is focused on their clients’ goals. You can boost your financial education through their webinars on topics such as Healthcare in Retirement, Women & Investing, and their regular Second Saturday Divorce Workshop. And be sure to catch Ann Covington, CFP®, CPWA®, on Eye on Annapolis’ Daily News Brief podcast for her Monday Money Report.
Arundel Community Development Services
Arundel Community Development Services (ACDS) is a nonprofit that promotes community development through affordable housing. But also, they offer the Financial Empowerment Counseling Program to those who have low or limited income. According to their website, their counseling sessions include helping clients “set goals, repair credit, build a budget, and manage income and savings.”
Resolution: Improve My Health
While weight loss is a popular New Year’s resolution (and there’s no shame in it), focusing on lifestyle changes can help you reach your goals in a healthy way. Eating a good diet and starting a consistent exercise regimen are easier said than done. These businesses can help you make these changes in a way that works for you.
Repke Fitness
The personal trainers at Repke Fitness will tailor workout routines to your body and your life. Louben Repke is a registered nurse as well as a personal trainer, making him especially qualified to help clients. Whether you’re going for weight loss, injury prevention, or rehabilitation, their studio is a no-judgment environment. And they offer nutritional advice and support.
Yoga Factory
Yoga might be one of the best additions to your routine to boost your health. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, a regular yoga routine can help you sleep better, have more energy, and manage your stress. Plus, it’s good for your heart, your balance, your strength, and—of course—your flexibility. With three studios in the Annapolis area, Yoga Factory has tons of options for starting a new yoga habit. And with their Kids Club at their Annapolis and Arnold locations, you don’t have to worry about finding a babysitter just to attend class. They’ll keep your little ones entertained while you focus on you!
Resolution: Get It Together
I always feel the most scatterbrained at the end of the year. So if you’re like me, you might have a resolution that is some version of “get organized” or “get my head on straight.” As moms, sometimes it feels like we can’t help others until everything is in its place in your mind or in your house. Well, these businesses can help you with mental clutter—or literal clutter!
Some people might try therapy and feel like it’s not a good fit. Well, Betty Center has not only individual therapy, but also group therapy, support groups, life coaching, and consulting. If one thing doesn’t feel right, you can try something else. You can even get parenting, legal, financial, and mortgage advice. They are committed to helping women live their best lives in every part of their lives!
Systems by Suzie
There are days when I dread looking inside my laundry room (which is also my pantry) or our home office (which is also our exercise room). And don’t get me started on our garage! Either we need about eight to 12 more hours in a day, or we can call Suzie for help. Systems by Suzie will help with organizing, moving, or supporting you during home renovations. You can even set up a membership plan to have Suzie help you on a regular basis. That’s one part of the mental load you won’t have to carry anymore!
Resolution: Learn Something New
Being a lifelong learner isn’t easy when you have kids. It’s tricky to find time for a new language or hobby when the baby won’t nap and the older kids won’t stop fighting. But if you can bring the kids along and learn beside them, then everyone wins!
Artworks Studio
If you have a toddler, you know how much they love making art (by which I mean, a mess). At Artworks Studio, their parent/child classes will have you both tapping into your inner Michelangelo. That is if Michelangelo made a clay penguin instead of the statue of David. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere! Let loose your creativity and let Artworks Studio clean up afterward.
Priddy Music Academy
The Priddy Music Academy difference is obvious—your kid will want to practice their instrument. And they won’t need bribery or extortion to do it! With the ultimate goal of playing in a band, kids (and you!) will be encouraged and excited to continue. Whether you want to learn to play drums, guitar, bass, ukelele, keyboards, or sing, Priddy is ready to help you and your kids do your best.
Resolution: Spend More Time with Loved Ones
If you were to ask most people what they wish they could do more of, spending time with family and friends would be pretty high up there. It can be hard with all of our busy schedules, but it’s important to put bonding time on our calendars. So here are a couple of ways to do it that are fun for everyone.
AMC Theatres at Annapolis Mall
It might be easy enough to think, “I’ll just wait ‘til it’s streaming,” but going to the movies is still worth it for the experience. At the Annapolis Mall, you can spend time window shopping (or regular shopping) before the movie starts, and grab a bite afterward. You and your kids can have something to talk about that isn’t “How was school?” because we all know that doesn’t get you very far. And with MacGuffin’s Bar, grown-ups can enjoy a drink before the trailers start. It’s a great way to spend a Friday night!
Family Swim at Goldfish Swim School
For littles who may not be ready to sit still in a movie theater, try getting them into the water. Goldfish Swim School in Crofton has family swim time open to the public. For only $10 per person, or $30 per family, you get to enjoy paddling around in a heated pool with toys available for play. It’s a relaxing way to help your children work on their water safety skills that the whole family can do together.
Whether or not you set New Year’s resolutions for yourself, you can think about giving yourself a clean slate this year. Check out these businesses to see how they can help you live a happier, easier, healthier, more fulfilling life. Because you deserve it.
