- This month, it’s Maryland Vegan Restaurant Month! Maryland Vegan Eats has a ton of new and returning restaurants offering healthy, plant-based, and/or vegan items as part of their menu selections. The mission of Maryland Vegan Restaurant Month (formally known as Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week) is to bridge the gap by increasing the awareness, benefits, and accessibility of a plant-based diet through a fun, innovative, and community-based experience. Many participating restaurants are in Baltimore or DC; however, there are a couple Anne Arundel County spots:
- Bread and Butter Kitchen | Menu | Highlights: Vegan Hippie Hash, Jackfruit “Crab” Cake Sandwich, Oyster Mushroom Po Boy Sandwich, Fried Cauliflower & Forbidden Rice Bowl
- Cisu Vegan House | Menu | Highlights: Coconut Fritters, Hot & Crispy Eggplant, Korean Crispy Vegan Beef, General Tso’s Vegan Chicken
- Miss Shirley’s Café | Menu | Highlights: Grapefruit Brûlée, Charm City Chia Pudding, Vegan Loco Hombre Tacos, Vegan Park Place Powerhouse Sandwich
- Notable Highlight: Plant Baked by Sarah is based in Baltimore but services the area. Sarah makes delicious cakes and macarons without compromise!
- InGrano Bistro Bakery specializes in baking bread inspired by global methods, using locally sourced ingredients and a unique fresh-milled flour blend. Their loaves, made with natural leavening agents and long fermentation times, are easy to digest and help combat gluten sensitivity. By using old-world baking techniques and cold-proofing their bread for at least 36 hours, they ensure the flours fully hydrate and break down proteins, making their bread both delicious and healthier. InGrano offers an extensive drink menu, with lots of espresso, tea, matcha, and specialty drink options. Their breakfast and lunch menu is crafted with seasonal ingredients from local Maryland farms and beyond. Highlights for lunch include the Banh Mi and Chicken Katsu Sandwich, paired with a Whipped Thai Tea and Pomegranate Espresso Tonic.
- P.S. Be sure to take home one (or two!) of their specialty supreme croissants and a loaf of 36-hour sourdough. My favorite croissants are the PB&J Uncroissantable and Key Lime!
