Local Food Finds

August 27, 2024 by Sarah Amyot

Your weekly dose of some cool food and dining finds around town!

Vermicelli Bowls, Cow-to-Cup Ice Cream, and New Tex-Mex in Annapolis

Have a suggestion? We’d love to hear from you – submit it HERE!

  • Located in Eastport is family-owned, Nam’s Pho, the perfect spot to get authentic Vietnamese cuisine. DYK (Did You Know) that “Nam” stands for their three sons, Nicholas, Aiden, and Mason? They have rotating specials, like their Pork Rind Stir Fry, and Vietnamese classics like #53 Pork Vermicelli (grilled pork shoulder with chopped green leaf lettuce, bean sprouts, pickled daikon and carrots, diced cucumber, and Thai basil, served with house chili garlic fish sauce) and #30 House Pho (beef rice noodle soup with brisket, tendon, tripe, and thinly sliced eye round steak). You might wonder what vermicelli is – it is thin rice noodles that are cylindrical in shape (like spaghetti noodles) and slightly chewy.
    • Pro tip: Add fried spring rolls to the vermicelli!
  • Need something to help you cool off? Tucked away in the Anne Arundel County Farmers’ Market is Nice Farms Creamery, where they make their cow-to-cup ice cream. It’s made from scratch with fresh Jersey milk (aka milk from their Jersey cattle), with no artificial dyes, flavors, or carrageenan. All of their ice cream flavors are delicious, but my favorite is their Coffee Latte and my son’s favorite is Peach. Nice Farms Creamery has been serving Maryland since 1989 and has a 201-acre dairy farm with 120 acres of permanent pasture, 60 acres of woods, and 20 acres of buildings, barns, and houses.
    • P.S. Their sorbet and chocolate milk are also to die for!
    • Nice Farms Creamery is at the Anne Arundel County Farmers’ Markets on Sundays from 9:30 am to 12 pm.
  • Mark your calendars! Annapolis Towne Center’s newest restaurant, Urbano, is opening Tuesday, September 3 at 5:00 pm. Urbano will be serving up bold spices and authentic Tex-Mex cuisine, like enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, burritos, chimichangas, and lots of different types of margaritas.
    • P.S. If you subscribe on their website, you get $25 off your next $75+ visit!

This week’s Local Food Finds is a bittersweet one.

Bitty & Beau’s has been part of downtown
Annapolis for years, and now the shop is getting ready to close its doors on September 13.

From coffee runs and sweet treats to the familiar faces behind the counter, it’s a place that will
be missed around City Dock.

If you’ve been meaning to stop by, there’s still time for one more cup.

Read the full Local Food Finds article at the link below and in our bio and share with someone who loves BITTY & BEAU’S!
