Is your family looking for a good time and ways to give back to the community this fall? The Friends of The Light House, is hosting its annual Pumpkin Patch event, which began on September 28. Based in Annapolis, MD, the non-profit organization is a homeless prevention and support center that has been a community mainstay for years on end.
By purchasing a pumpkin at this event, you’ll contribute to their cause and help in their support of local businesses. The Friends of Light House sourced its pumpkins for this event from Farner Johns of Kent Island, a decision that also reduces their carbon footprint. The fresh, hand-picked, pumpkins are available for purchase to raise funds for the shelter.
In addition to everything pumpkin, enjoy fall-themed games, family-fun photo ops, and more! For an extra donation, quilt raffle tickets are available for $10 each. Sourcing locally once again, the 56″ x 72″ quilt is handmade and donated by members of the Annapolis Quilt Guild. The winner will be revealed on October 28th and contacted via phone or email.
“Every dollar we raise at The Patch goes to support vital programs at The Light House including housing, job training, food and clothing pantries”, said Nikki Trevey, Executive Director at Friends of the Light House. “The Light House specifically tailors their services for each client who comes through our doors. The integrated care provided helps clients stabilize their health, maximize income, and secure safe and stable housing. Beyond providing food, clothing, and shelter, they also address the underlying causes of homelessness such as lack of marketable job skills, addiction, and the debilitating effects of both mental and physical health issues.”
The Pumpkin Patch, located at St. Martin’s Church in Annapolis, MD, will be open on select days and times:
Saturdays & Sundays: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Thursdays & Fridays: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
“This year we have 10 different organizations volunteering for different shifts including the Navy Women’s Basketball team. We are grateful to St. Martin’s church which has hosted this event for over 22 years”, said a spokesperson with the Light House Shelter. Looking to help volunteer?
