Hair of the Dog: 5 of the Best Bloody Marys in Annapolis

December 24, 2023 by Judy Colbert

…to Cure what Ails You

Legend has it that the Bloody Mary is a popular hangover cure because the tomato juice and vegetables settle your tummy, the salt rebalances your electrolytes, and the booze serves as the “hair of the dog.” As there’s usually a lot of imbibing on New Year’s Eve, January 1 is considered Bloody Mary Day. Here are some Annapolis favorites:

Miss Shirley’s Café in Annapolis offers the Spicy Shirley at brunch daily, so you can celebrate when you wish. The Spicy Shirley is Three Olives Vodka, garnished with celery, green tomato slice, green olive, lemon & lime wedge, peppadew, bourbon-infused pickled okra & jalapeño slice, with an Old Bay rim. Try pairing it with Bloody Mary Deviled eggs.

Open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Boatyard Bar and Grill has weekend brunch, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and other weekend holidays. Their Bloody Mary (available every day) is made with Tito’s vodka, house-made bloody mix, spicy pickled green bean, pepperoncini, olive, and fresh lime.

Open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday 9 a.m. to midnight (New Year’s Day Brunch: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Rams Head Tavern has been locally owned since 1989. The impressive, family-friendly Sunday brunch has a Bloody Mary with mild or spicy mix, pepper sauces, bacon bits, celery, pickles, and other goodies. Bloody Marys are available at any time. Make your own Bloody at “Turn Sunday into Funday” brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $15 with the purchase of an entrée.

The Iron Rooster has been an Annapolis favorite since it opened in October 2014. Located in the heart of Downtown Annapolis, adjacent to the City Dock, it serves as a perfect spot for all-day breakfast. First-timers should try the homemade pop-tarts. The Iron Rooster Bacon Bloody Mary is made with New Amsterdam vodka, house mix, pickled asparagus, bacon, and olive, with an Old Bay rim.

Sunday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

🏡✨ One of our amazing community supporters, @americanremodelllc , recently completed a stunning full exterior renovation in Annapolis!

The homeowner reached out because the home still had original metal windows that were drafty and poorly insulated, along with aging cedar siding that had begun to rot. Working closely with the homeowner, American Remodel used AI rendering technology to create a vision for the home’s transformation before construction even began.

The project included new ProVia vinyl windows, beautiful James Hardie fiber cement siding, and all-new soffit, fascia, and gutters. The result? A dramatic transformation that completely refreshed the home’s appearance, improved energy efficiency, and left the homeowner so thrilled they shared a stellar 5-star review!

Swipe through to see the before photos, AI rendering, and incredible finished result. 🤩

Thinking about tackling a home improvement project of your own? American Remodel offers free, no-pressure estimates for exterior renovations and interior remodeling projects. Give them a call at 301-941-7784 or visit www.american-remodel.com to get started! 🏠✨
