- Teens Shoot Bottle Rockets into Annapolis Crowd After Fireworks Display
Two teens fired a series of bottle rockets into a crowd after Annapolis’ July 4 fireworks. While no injuries were reported, it sparked a panic leading to a brief stampede as families fled Main Street. A spokesperson from the police said no charges have been filed.
- More Speed Cameras in Anne Arundel County
Anne Arundel County activated two additional automated speed cameras on July 2 in school zones near Chesapeake High School in Pasadena and Glen Burnie High School along Baltimore–Annapolis Boulevard. Cameras will operate weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., with citations beginning after a 15-day warning period.
- St. Mary’s Parish Buys Annapolis Area Christian School Campus for $8.5 Million
St. Mary’s Parish has completed the $8.5 million purchase of the former Annapolis Area Christian School Bestgate Road campus. The 9.37-acre site includes classrooms, gymnasium, art and music spaces, and athletic fields. AACS will remain on the property until the end of the 2025–26 school year as the parish plans future use.
- Man Killed in Annapolis Shooting
In the Bay Ridge Gardens community in Annapolis, a 24-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning. He was transported in trauma arrest after suffering a gunshot wound to the head, but later succumbed to his injuries. Police have not yet responded to inquiries.
- Man Robbed at Gunpoint in Downtown Annapolis
Annapolis Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery near the intersection of Calvert and Northwest streets on July 2. Two individuals reportedly approached a man and his girlfriend at around 7:30 p.m.; one brandished a handgun and demanded property from the man. The man fled, no injuries were reported, and no property was taken. The suspects remain at large.
