- Human Remains Found in Truxtun Park; Annapolis Police Investigating
Annapolis Police are investigating after apparent human remains were discovered in a wooded area of Truxtun Park. The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to identify the individual and determine the cause of death. Police said there is no known threat to the public.
- Eastport Protest Raises Questions Over Mercedes Renovation Approval
A small group of Eastport residents protested renovations at Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis, where the dealership’s familiar brick exterior is being changed to a black-and-gray design. While Mercedes has a valid City permit, the dispute has focused attention on Annapolis’ review process, a 2005 site plan condition calling for unpainted brick, and whether residents should have been notified when a revised application was approved.
- Six Selected for 2026 Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame Honors
The Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame will honor Lyndsey Boswell, Brian Burlace, Harry Dobson, Pat Owen and Bill Wagner as part of its 2026 induction class, while John Spinnenweber will receive the Bernie Walter Memorial Award. The six will be recognized during the Hall of Fame’s annual induction banquet on November 12 in Annapolis.
4. 20 Women Receive Fannie Lou Hamer Awards in Annapolis
Twenty Anne Arundel County women were honored at the annual Fannie Lou Hamer Awards Reception in Annapolis for their work in civil and human rights, social justice, advocacy and community service. The October 4 event at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center continued a tradition that has recognized more than 100 local women for making a difference in the community.
5. Crofton Author Michelle Carey Releases Political Thriller Set in Anne Arundel County
Crofton author Michelle Carey has released The Crofton Triangle, a political crime thriller centered on cybercrime, corruption, surveillance and a local family pulled into a dangerous conspiracy. The novel, Carey’s 13th published book and first political crime thriller, is set in Crofton and Anne Arundel County and draws in part on her decades of federal government experience.
