- Annapolis Hammer Assault Leaves Man Injured, Suspect Charged
An adult man suffered a non-life-threatening injury after being struck in the head with a hammer inside a vehicle on Arundel on the Bay Road. Police later located the suspect near Forest Drive and Chinquapin Round Road and filed assault charges.

A new upscale Japanese restaurant and sushi bar is planned for the former El Toro Bravo property on Riva Road following the building’s $1.63 million sale. The restaurant’s name, menu and anticipated opening date have not been announced.
- Davidsonville Teen Sentenced to Life for Tropic Bay Owner’s Murder
A Davidsonville teen was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole for the 2025 murder of Tropic Bay Water Gardens owner Edward Stephen Koza. The court also ordered the return of approximately $215,000 and a truck purchased with stolen money to Koza’s estate.
4. Naval Academy Class of 2030 Begins Plebe Summer on I-Day
Approximately 1,200 incoming midshipmen reported to the U.S. Naval Academy for Induction Day, beginning their transition into the Class of 2030. The new plebes completed processing, received uniforms and haircuts, took the Oath of Office and began six weeks of Plebe Summer training.
5. Annapolis Takes Control of Downtown Main Street Program
The City of Annapolis is ending its funding and management agreement with the Downtown Annapolis Partnership and will directly oversee the Maryland Main Street program. City officials said the change is intended to improve accountability, results and support for downtown businesses.
