  1. Two Men Abducted in Annapolis’ Eastport Community.

Annapolis Police swiftly rescued a kidnapping victim in Eastport after two men were accosted at gunpoint and forced into a black sedan. One victim escaped, enabling officers to locate and safely recover the second within blocks, leading to the arrest of three suspects and recovery of firearms—both victims declined medical treatment and remain unharmed.

  1. BGE Station Taken Offline in Unplanned Outage.

Baltimore Gas & Electric issued a warning about possible widespread outages after an unplanned disconnection of a local power plant strained the grid during peak demand. Customers enrolled in the PeakRewards program experienced cycling of their AC units, and those with medical needs were instructed to contact the PeakRewards hotline promptly.

Annapolis Police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot on Newtowne Drive that wounded two men on August 9. The Anne Arundel County Police Department reports major reductions in crime across the county this year, with homicides down 14%, non-contact shootings down 42%, carjackings down 57%, and other robberies also dropping significantly.
