1. Edgewater Teen Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A 19-year-old motorcyclist, Daniel Joseph Helmly Jr., was killed in a fatal crash in Edgewater on September 22. The accident occurred when Helmly’s Yamaha motorcycle collided with a Ford Expedition making a turn on Solomons Island Road. Helmly was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and passengers of the SUV were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

2. More Parking Changes in Annapolis Garages

Annapolis is implementing more parking changes to address congestion. The Annapolis Department of Transportation is introducing additional paid parking options, limiting residential permits in some areas, and adjusting rates to encourage turnover and improve access for visitors and residents. These changes are part of broader efforts to improve parking efficiency in the city.

3. Rumor Control: Rams Head Live in Baltimore is Closing! ALL Others are Business as Usual!

Rams Head Live, a popular music venue in Baltimore, is closing its doors. Despite this closure, the Rams Head Group will continue operating its other venues, including Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis. The decision comes as the music scene faces post-pandemic challenges, but the group remains committed to live entertainment in its remaining locations.

4. Man Shot to Death in Annapolis Condo Complex 

Annapolis Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot dead inside an apartment on Georgetown Road. Officers responded to reports of gunfire on September 28, 2024. No suspect has been identified yet, and the motive remains unknown, though police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

5. Slow Down! More Speed Cameras Coming Online This Week

More speed cameras are now live across Anne Arundel County as part of an initiative to improve road safety. Additional speed cameras have been activated near schools and high-traffic areas. This expansion aims to reduce speeding and improve safety in these zones.
