Hand & Hearth: Women's Work in the Colonial Home

Step back into the past and explore the vital role of sewing and laundry in the daily life of a colonial household.

Discover how women and girls kept their families clothed, warm, and respectable. Learn about “plain sewing,” the making and mending of essential garments, bedding, and linens. Experience a period-accurate laundry demonstration. See how clothes and linens were boiled, scrubbed, blued, and dried using tools and techniques of the past.

Register here! This event will take place at the Hogshead Trades Museum.
