As the holiday season draws near, there’s nothing quite like the scent of a freshly cut Christmas tree to bring the spirit of the season home. There are plenty of wonderful spots in Annapolis where you can find the perfect tree for your celebration. Whether you’re after a towering fir or a petite pine, we’ve rounded up the best places around town to help make your holiday decorating just a little more magical.
Homestead Gardens
As far as “having it all” goes, Homestead hits the nail on the head! Whether you’re looking for a real tree, of which they have six different types, or a fake tree (where, of course, you can’t tell the difference), Homestead Gardens has you covered. Their Christmas display, Homestead for the Holidays, is one of wonder and magic. Admire the 23 decorated trees, each with a distinctive theme, before stopping by their massive model train display. As you enjoy the holiday cheer, the kids just may be lucky enough to see Santa Claus, who made his way down from the North Pole. In addition to trees, you will also find poinsettias, specialty made wreaths and greens, ornaments, and much more!

Tree-Buying Tips for Families
A few quick tips to help make your tree-shopping experience even smoother:
Measure before you go.
Measure both the height and width of the space where your tree will sit, plus the height of your stand and tree topper.
Bring a blanket or tarp.
Protect your car seats or trunk from sap, needles, and moisture on the ride home.
Ask for a fresh cut.
Have the seller trim the trunk to help the tree absorb water and last longer.
Check for freshness.
Look for flexible needles, strong fragrance, and branches that don’t shed when gently shaken.
Water daily.
Trees can drink a surprising amount of water in the first few days. Keeping them hydrated helps them stay fragrant, safe, and beautiful all season long.
With so many options to choose from, the only question is if you’re team real tree or team fake tree? Either way, here’s to finding the one that makes your home feel magical this season.
