Looking for a family friendly hike that’s close by? Try Forked Creek Trail, also known by locals as the Arnold Trails Loop. It’s a 2-mile loop hidden away next to Broadneck Elementary School. Parking is available at the school’s visitors’ parking lot when not in session, and there is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. There are inclines, declines, streams and a lot of beautiful trees. It felt like a mini Patapsco Valley State Park! There are abandoned cars and appliances from the 50’s along the trail which the kids always love. There are also hidden tree paintings scattered around the trail. We always do the red loop, but sometimes there are a few trail intersections that get confusing so be sure to use an app, like AllTrails to keep you on track . What’s nice is there is always cell service and it’s in the middle of a few neighborhoods, so no real chance of getting lost in the woods.
