Anne Arundel jobs in aerospace and aviation are becoming more interesting as local employers expand and Maryland continues to add positions in technical and professional fields.
Maryland added 11,700 jobs in July, one of the state’s strongest monthly gains this year. The private sector accounted for 10,900 of those jobs, while professional, scientific and technical services added 3,000 positions. Manufacturing also grew.
For local job seekers, that matters because Anne Arundel County sits in the middle of a growing mix of aviation, defense, technology and aerospace employers.
Where Anne Arundel Jobs Are Growing
Space infrastructure company Intuitive Machines is expanding its Anne Arundel County operations into a 69,000-square-foot facility at BWI Tech Park in Linthicum. The company plans to nearly double its local workforce to about 100 employees. The expanded facility will support spacecraft hardware testing, robotics development, mission operations, fabrication and machining.
And these opportunities are not only for engineers.
Aerospace and aviation employers also need technicians, IT professionals, project managers, administrative staff, communications teams, skilled tradespeople and operations workers.
BWI Offers More Than Airport Jobs
BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport is another major employment hub. The Maryland Aviation Administration lists career paths ranging from entry-level positions to professional and technical roles.
Current postings can include opportunities in accounting, electrical work, heavy-equipment maintenance, plumbing and engineering.
That variety matters for job seekers who may assume they need an aviation background before applying.
Your Skills May Already Transfer
If you have experience in technology, logistics, maintenance, manufacturing, customer service, operations or project management, it may be worth exploring Anne Arundel jobs in aerospace and aviation even if you have never worked in those industries before.
The county’s location near BWI, Fort Meade and Annapolis gives local workers access to a unique mix of government, defense, aviation and emerging technology employers.
