- Woman Found Dead at Annapolis Home Previously Searched for Explosives
Anne Arundel County Police are investigating the death of a woman found Thursday morning inside a Blackwalnut Lane home where authorities seized dozens of suspected explosive devices earlier this year. The woman was the girlfriend of Lee Ralston, who is facing dozens of felony explosives charges. Police said the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, and authorities have not indicated the death is connected to the earlier investigation.
- Annapolis Speed Cameras Going 24/7 Beginning September 8
Annapolis will expand automated speed camera enforcement to 24 hours a day, seven days a week beginning September 8. The change applies to the city’s existing automated speed enforcement locations, while separate enforcement on Forest Drive began August 11 following the recent reduction in the posted speed limit.

Annapolis Police are investigating a reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred in downtown Annapolis during the early morning hours of August 9. A male victim told officers he was sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect at an unspecified downtown location. The investigation remains ongoing.

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee is expected to close its Dock Street location September 13, becoming the latest City Dock business affected during the ongoing waterfront construction project. The inclusive coffee shop opened in Annapolis in 2020 and provides employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its departure follows the suspension of operations at neighboring Blowfish Poké and the announced closing of the longtime Annapolis Marine Art Gallery.
5. Annapolis Firefighters Win National Censures Against Two Local Officials
Annapolis Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1926 took two disputes to the International Association of Fire Fighters convention, where delegates formally censured Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess and Annapolis Alderman Rob Savidge. The separate resolutions involve the prosecution of a former Annapolis firefighter-paramedic and concerns over Annapolis Fire Department staffing and emergency medical resources.
