New Anne Arundel jobs are opening beyond the traditional office environment, and one local expansion shows where some of that growth is happening.
Holly Poultry has opened a new 80,000-square-foot production facility in Anne Arundel County, with the expansion expected to create 140 net new jobs. The facility will support the company’s growing retail business, including its Easy Street and One Fine Chicken brands and private-label production.
That is especially notable because manufacturing is already considered a critical sector in Anne Arundel County and represents about 6.4% of local employment, according to the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation.
Manufacturing Is Showing Signs of Growth
The statewide picture is encouraging too. Maryland added 11,700 jobs in July, including 800 manufacturing jobs. Overall, the state added nearly 30,000 jobs during the first seven months of 2026.
That matters locally because Holly Poultry’s expansion is not happening in isolation. It fits into a broader manufacturing base that benefits from Anne Arundel County’s proximity to BWI, the Port of Baltimore, major highways, federal agencies, and a skilled workforce.
Amy Gowan, president and CEO of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, said:
“This investment strengthens our local manufacturing economy, creates meaningful job opportunities and reinforces the region’s role in the continued growth of Maryland’s food industry.”
These Jobs Go Beyond the Production Line
A facility like this needs more than production workers. Opportunities can include warehouse operations, logistics, quality control, food safety, maintenance, shipping, inventory, supervision, and management.
That is important in a local job market where some employers are cutting positions while others are expanding. For job seekers, the takeaway is simple: where the opportunities are may be shifting.
If you have experience in food service, warehousing, logistics, maintenance, manufacturing, operations, or team leadership, your skills may transfer more easily than you think.
