Adult Sports Leagues

April 7, 2026 by Tyler Ingle

Community can show up in a lot of ways—family, coworkers, college friends. But as adults, it’s not always easy to build new connections or keep up with the ones we already have. That’s where adult sports leagues come in. These recreational leagues have been increasing in popularity, creating a fun, low-stakes environment to spend some time reconnecting with old friends or meeting new ones. What’s even better is that there are plenty of adult sports leagues and communities in Annapolis and the surrounding area.

Here’s a few we recommend checking out!

Anne Arundel County Parks & Recreation

When you think of county parks and rec, you probably think of youth sports, but there are adult leagues, too.

If you’re 18 or older, you can sign up for baseball, basketball, field hockey, soccer or softball. Most games are played at local high schools and county facilities, so everything stays close to home. Many also offer convenient schedules like Saturday morning basketball or soccer after bedtime (around 9 PM). Registration and fees vary depending on the sport.

Local Gym Leagues

A lot of local gyms have gotten in on the action, offering both leagues and more casual, drop-in play.

Life Time in Annapolis has become especially popular for pickleball, with 11 courts at its location. Other gyms offer adult basketball leagues, and the YMCA has pickup pickleball and volleyball for ages 16 and up, plus basketball and soccer for adults. Some locations also organize leagues if you’re looking for something more structured.

Peake Social

The most prominent adult sports league and social club in Anne Arundel County, Peake Social, plays all types of sports throughout the year.

The group was founded to create community, with the winning team awarded a check to their charity or nonprofit organization of choice. Those looking to participate with a group can register as a team, while first-timers or those hoping to meet new people can sign up as free agents and be placed on a team. Their rolodex of sports leagues includes: kickball, flag football, soccer, bowling, cornhole, golf, bocce, pickleball, tennis, basketball, volleyball, softball, and a run club.

There are several leagues starting this month, including pickleball, soccer and volleyball, with more launching in May and June.

Volo Sports

Volo has taken the country by storm, quickly becoming one of the most well known adult sports league organizations out there. They offer soccer, volleyball, kickball, pickleball, softball, cornhole, basketball, and flag football, with the closest two hubs for leagues being in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. As far as levels go, you can take your pick from competitive to casual. It’s the perfect opportunity for those looking to just have fun or relive the glory days. The average registration fee per player is $60, but it can vary depending on the sport, team size, and length of season.

They have several leagues starting in Baltimore this month, including coed softball, ultimate frisbee, beach volleyball and cornhole. They even have Kickball + Flip Cup coming up, which honestly sounds like the most fun ever.

Adult sports leagues are a great way to build community. Whether you’re joining a county team, signing up at your gym or trying out a social league, it’s an easy way to get out of the house, meet people and have a little fun along the way.
