Spriggs Farm is my favorite local park and a hidden gem. It’s in Arnold and, as far as I can tell, no one is ever there. The park is gated with a combination lock, so you have to search the Anne Arundel County website for Spriggs Farm. Scroll down the web page and click on the Gate Access Request Form and then you will click on the “Combination Lock Numbers Form Request” button. You then input your name and email, and you will get the code to the combination lock on the gate; it’s easy! They change the combination from time to time, so make sure to check before you go. When you pull up, open the gate and drive through the woods, where you will be looking straight out at Dobbins Island in the Magothy River.
There are picnic tables and a little beach with amazing views. This is a great spot to launch a kayak or have a picnic. We like to just hang out on the beach and watch people (or dogs) swim. There are short hiking trails through the woods and a hidden lake. If you don’t have the gate code, you can always park outside the gate and walk in; it’s a pleasant and leisurely walk. I’ve even fished there at high tide and caught plenty of fish. Spriggs Farm is definitely a must visit for this spring and summer!
