Find all your fair favorites like carnival rides and funnel cake plus some new offerings at the 142nd Maryland State Fair which opens Aug. 24. The fair combines horse racing, contests, carnival rides and livestock shows into one giant celebration that lasts three weekends. Among some of the new offerings in 2023 are:
Robot Cars: Watch the crowd erupt with excitement when highly skilled operators bring brightly colored, unique vehicles to life with amazing driving skills. Traveling daily in Kiddie Land.
The Dennis Lee Show: Singer, showman and master of improvisation Dennis Lee will wow audiences with his musical and comedic talent. Various times during last two weekends of the Fair.
Pandemonium in Timonium Pig Show: The American Berkshire Association Swine Show presents a Berkshire Breeds Open Swine Show & Sale and an All-Breeds Junior Berkshire Swine Show. Labor Day weekend in the Swine Show Ring.
The Mallet New Fair Food Competition: Vendors compete for the Best New Sweet Fair Food, the Best New Savory Fair Food, and the Most Creative New Fair Food in a lively competition Sun, Aug. 27 at 10 am on the Park Stage.
Fairgoers can watch and wager on thoroughbred races, watch livestock shows, enjoy free concerts, watch bull riding and barrel racing, thrill to numerous rides and games on the midway and dine on tasty fair food and drinks. The LIVE! ON TRACK! Concert Series at the Maryland State Fair presented by M&T Bank on the High’s Main Stage features the band All Time Low w/ Mayday Parade, Gym Class Heroes, Grayscale, and Lauran Hibberd, Fri., Sept 8; and Quinn XCII on Sat., Sept. 9 (separate tickets required but includes fair admission).
Celebrating its 142nd year, the Maryland State Fair recognizes the enduring appeal of Maryland’s citizens, students, and 4-H and FFA members sharing their talents and competing for ribbons, prizes and bragging rights. The Fair’s buildings, barns and stages provide space for thousands of fair-goers to appreciate the exhibits, learn from the exhibitors, and consider participating in a future fair.
Dates: The state fair is open Thursdays through Sundays until Sept. 10.

· Labor Day Monday: 10am-close
· Gates open early at 9 am on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day Monday for early risers to watch the start of livestock and horse shows.
Cost: Adult admission (ages 12-61) $12; Seniors (ages 62+), $10; Children (ages 6-11), $7; Children ages 5 and under, free. Carnival rides and Live On Track concerts are individually priced.
