Return to the Renaissance

August 26 through October 22

10 am – 7pm

Travel back to the year 1536 in Revel Grove, the site of the 47th Maryland Renaissance Festival. King Henry VIII’s first wife, Katherine of Aragon, has died, and the king recently suffered a tragic jousting accident. Anne Boleyn has been executed, and Henry has married Jane Seymour. It’s a time of tension and rebellion for the country. But no worries for you, fair maids and knights. You can still tour the Tudor village and peruse the wares from crafters and artisans, watch lively stage shows ranging from Shakespeare to jugglers and musicians, or watch the jousting matches. There are always a lot of activities for the kids, and costumes are encouraged. Opening weekend is also Children’s Weekend: one child ages 7 to 15 is free with each adult ticket. Children 6 and under are always free. Check online for more special events throughout the season, plus a detailed entertainment schedule.

Before we shout huzzah, an important announcement regarding this year’s Maryland Renaissance Festival: all tickets must be purchased online.

Dates: Saturdays and Sundays August 26 – Oct. 22, plus Labor Day Monday Sept. 4

Time: 10 am – 7 pm

Cost: 6-day, 9-day and 19-day passes are sold out; Aug. 26 – Sept. 10, $24 w/discounts; Sept. 16-Oct. 22 $30 w/discounts

Location: 1821 Crownsville Road, Annapolis, MD 21401

Being a positive rol

Being a positive role model can make a big difference for your kids. Forming healthy habits, including how much screen time, children tend to follow what they see at home.

We know it’s not always easy - phones are part of everyday life - but constant scrolling can send mixed messages about limits. Research continues to link excessive screen time with mental health challenges, especially in children and teens.

One simple step? Put your device down and join them. Even a few minutes of screen-free play can go a long way in showing what balance looks like.

If you’re looking for a pediatrician to support your child’s well-being, the team our community supporter SP Docs is here for you. Call them at 410-647-8300 to learn more.
