Sometimes, I can find myself talking through ideas over and over again and then I do…nothing. I find that most of the talk is to my family or close friends or in my head. In the past two weeks, we brought on a new part-time Editor, Chelsea Harrison, and a full-time Marketing Director, Sandy Biello. We talked and talked about an idea I had about producing a quarterly publication of all the things that Annapolis Moms need. I was so scared to pull the trigger, because I was scared of failure. This project is a beast to produce, and it will take an exceptional group of very talented people to pull it off. So, as I was nervously talking it through with the team, Sandy said, “Just post it and say it out loud and it will force you to do it!” and boy was she right!
This week, I announced that on January 3rd, 2024 we will be launching our first quarterly magazine called The Motherlode. This is a digital/interactive and limited print magazine (except for the camp guide section) designed to be kept and easily read on your phone as your guide to all things Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
This will also be posted in our weekly welcome announcements, live on our website, and linked on every newsletter that goes out, so that our members can always refer to it when you need it!
As always, we do the work of vetting the businesses for you. We will look at reviews and also pull from our own personal knowledge…so yes, it’s subjective sometimes. You can be assured (put disclaimer here… haha) that these companies do great work as you see in our group every day. Only businesses with the Annapolis Moms Thumbs Up will be listed and this is not pay to play.
This curated magazine will also feature seasonal articles that highlight do-not-miss events and activities, and address your most asked questions! We will also be giving something you have requested for a long time now: food, dining, and seasonal recipes!
Lastly, the spirit of Annapolis Moms is rooted in building our local community. In discussing the cover design, we decided to feature moms that represent our community. What you see now is a placeholder which will be replaced by a photo of some fabulous hometown heroes and mom bosses making a difference in our community.
So here we are…risk-taking at its finest, and I am asking you to join me! What have you been talking about and not doing? Say it out loud! Post it in the group and remember the first of the month is free advertising in the group! I can’t wait to hear all of your ideas that you have kept to yourself for far too long!
Cheers to The Motherlode!
