‘Twas the night before Christmas

December 18, 2023 by Chelsea Harrison

One of my favorite Christmas Eve traditions is sitting with my kids in bed and reading “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (often known by the first line, “Twas the night before Christmas”), a poem by Clement Clarke Moore. We read the poem out of a truly vintage book, given to me by my grandparents the year I was born. It is a magical depiction of Santa and a perfect read for any time you need a dose of Christmas spirit.

Stephanie Verni is a local author who has written eight books, including the recent From Humbug to Humble: The Transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge, a Dickens-inspired fictional follow-up story on Ebenezer Scrooge, and The Letters in the Books, an inspirational novel that is set in Annapolis and begins on the night of Midnight Madness and ends the following year. More about her books is available at stephanieverni.com. She kindly agreed to read this poem for us, included below.

We hope you share this video with your kids when they get home from school one day this week and their excitement is at an 11! Or maybe watch it together when they’re opening their advent calendar, when you need 2.5 minutes of quiet to just get something done…or maybe even on Christmas Eve night!

Thank you Stephanie and please enjoy!

Every Child Known. Every Child Supported.

At AACS, we believe every child is intentionally created in the image of God with unique gifts, abilities, and potential.

Because we are committed to developing the whole child, we recognize that students learn in different ways—and we are dedicated to helping each one flourish spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally.

At AACS, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover their God-given strengths, overcome challenges, and grow into the person they were created to be.
