With the weather warming up and the school year nearing a close, weeknights seem to hold a little more possibility. Kids have more free time, the sun lingers longer into the evening and the weather cools off after dark. The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park is making the most of the season with Tides & Tunes, a summer concert series that has quickly become an Annapolis tradition.
Billed as “where music meets the bay on Thursday nights,” Tides & Tunes features live music from 7 to 9 PM each week. The series kicks off June 11 and runs through Aug. 20, offering a wide variety of music, including Irish rock, hip-hop, classic rock, reggae, blues and more.
The lineup is as follows:
June 11 — Dublin 5, Irish rock
June 18 — A Classic Case, classic rock and roll
June 25 — All You Need, rock, pop and alternative rock
July 2 — The Grilled Lincolns with Michael McHenry, rock, hip-hop, funk, reggae, R&B and blues
July 9 — One Night Only, rock and pop-rock
July 16 — Timmie Metz Band, rock and soul
July 23 — Sweet Leda, rock, funk and soul
July 30 — John Frase Project, Motown, modern pop and rock and roll
Aug. 6 — Honest Lee Soul, funk, soul, blues, hip-hop and rock
Aug. 13 — Jarflys, rock
Aug. 20 — Jah Works, roots reggae, dancehall, dub and rocksteady
Attendees should plan ahead, as there is no onsite parking. Limited street parking is available near the museum entrance.
Food trucks will be onsite, and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Because the concert series is a zero-waste event, guests should bring their own reusable cup or be prepared to purchase one onsite.
The event is free, though donations are accepted. Beverage sales benefit the museum’s education programs. Dogs are not permitted, and any weather-related cancellations will be announced by 4 p.m. on social media.
Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly evening out, a relaxing concert after work, a unique date night or a chance to enjoy live music by the water, Tides & Tunes offers a summer tradition worth adding to the calendar.
Additional Outdoor Concerts
Tides & Tunes is one of several ways to enjoy live music outdoors in Annapolis this summer. Chronic Sailing’s Tunesday Concert Series brings live music to Back Creek on summer Tuesdays, with performances beginning 90 minutes before sunset and ending as the sun goes down. The free, family-friendly floating concert series invites guests to enjoy music from the water or nearby shoreline.
Annapolis Town Center hosts its Thursday Night LIVE! summer concerts from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Thursdays, June 4 through Aug. 27. Quiet Waters Park also offers a Summer Concert Series on Saturdays in July and August, with free park entry on concert evenings.
Great Frogs Winery also hosts regular live music on its patio, with local musicians performing during select Friday, Saturday and Sunday events. Guests can enjoy a tasting, glass or bottle of wine, with wine-friendly snacks available for purchase. Seating on the patio is first come, first served.
For those looking to keep the music going, Visit Annapolis maintains a calendar of concerts and live music events throughout the area.
