Join Captain Pat Love of Back Creek Charters for five days of fishing the Chesapeake Bay. Each day the crew will depart The Heights by 7 am and return by 2:00 pm for a 2:30 pick up. (We also have spots available for Annapolis or Kent Island folks to meet us at the dock!) We set out for Annapolis or Kent Island where fishing from boats awaits us on the Glorious Chesapeake. Days are spent cruising the beautiful waters of the Severn River and the Chesapeake Bay. Young anglers fish all day learning about gear, tackle, boating, knots, jigging and live bait techniques all while hunting the iconic striped bass (rockfish) as well as perch, spot, catfish, drum, spanish mackerel, bluefish and blue crabs. In June, we take 6 anglers per boat on a few 23-25 foot center consoles. Each boat is led by a USCG captain with a Maryland Guide License on his vessel. Pat Love and Back Creek Charters oversees the plan for the day and we collaborate to give the boys a great experience. In July and August we depart from Kent Island aboard a beautiful 48′ boat and all 14 students go on one boat. Captain Pat Love is a USCG Coast Guard Captain and owner of Back Creek Charters, a guide business in Annapolis, MD.

Being a positive rol

Being a positive role model can make a big difference for your kids. Forming healthy habits, including how much screen time, children tend to follow what they see at home.

We know it’s not always easy - phones are part of everyday life - but constant scrolling can send mixed messages about limits. Research continues to link excessive screen time with mental health challenges, especially in children and teens.

One simple step? Put your device down and join them. Even a few minutes of screen-free play can go a long way in showing what balance looks like.

If you’re looking for a pediatrician to support your child’s well-being, the team our community supporter SP Docs is here for you. Call them at 410-647-8300 to learn more.
