Secondhand Style: Where to Thrift and Shop Vintage in Annapolis

October 20, 2026 by Elizabeth Krischer

The resale market for clothes, shoes, and accessories has exploded in recent years. Fast fashion has made some people rethink their wardrobes—and their wallets. In the Annapolis area, we’ve got tons of thrift stores, vintage markets, and consignment shops. And they all have environmentally friendly and stylish picks.

We focused on businesses that sell clothing. However, many of them also sell household goods, artwork, and other items. So you can come for a new dress and leave with some décor!

Tips & Tricks for Buying Thrift

Walking into a thrift store with racks stuffed with everything from the cheaply made online fast fashion to hidden couture gems can be overwhelming. Finding something you like that’s good quality and in your size might feel impossible. But here are some suggestions for getting the most out of your time inside your local thrift store without spending all day.

  • Have a list. Keep in mind items you want or need, so you can narrow down your search.
  • Bring tailor’s tape. For women’s clothing in particular, don’t rely on the tag to know if it will fit you.
  • Check the tags. If there are tags still attached, check whether the item is from a decent brand or a low-quality fast-fashion retailer. And pay attention to fabrics. Whether you prefer natural fibers or longer-lasting blends, keep an eye on the ingredients!
  • Don’t stress about missing something. Sure, you might find a vintage Yves Saint Laurent dress, but probably not. So don’t spend all your time searching.
  • Check the pockets. And wear gloves when you do. Trust me.
