When the weather isn’t cooperating for a trip to the playground or you just need to get out of the house, the Westfield Annapolis Mall is a great go-to destination. We went a few weeks ago with our kids and spent half a day there; I realized after the fact that we did multiple activities and didn’t spend a penny. Bonus!
The main draw is the library location called “Discoveries: The Library at the Mall.” They have a great kids area with toys and interactive elements, and you could easily spend a lot of time there. For older kids, they have game tables in the hallway right outside of the library.
Right around the corner from the library is a family bathroom. This is a great chill area for nursing moms, or if kids need a diaper change or to use the bathroom. If you have young kids, they have toys mounted to the wall which keeps them occupied for a while.
Across from the library is an SCPA location called “Paws at the Mall” that is filled with adoptable animals. We love to go in and say hi to all the cats, rats, and other pets. Just be aware your kids may beg you for a pet after. They sell some really cute merchandise and the proceeds go to a good cause.
Around the corner from the library is a section of coin-operated rides. My kids always loved
climbing in and out of these. They don’t care if they are plugged in or not. Last time we were there, we spent 45 minutes and only one ride was actually plugged in.
At the entrance near where Pottery Barn used to be is the typical free kids’ play area that’s great for ages five and under. There is a large structure that has a lot to climb on, under, and through, and they do a good job keeping it clean.
On the other side of the mall is the Lego store and outside they have tables that sometimes have Legos or buckets of markers. It’s a great place to stop, have a snack, and let the kids play.
If your kids are still willing to ride in a stroller, the mall makes for a fantastic loop to exercise while the kids can be entertained by people watching and seeing everything the mall has to offer. So if you haven’t been to the Westfield Annapolis Mall in awhile, don’t forget about this free indoor space that offers a lot of entertainment!
