- St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner! Observed annually on March 17, what started as a religious holiday, has become a celebration of Irish culture. Fun fact: The proper nickname is “St. Paddy”, not “St. Patty”, for the original Irish name of the saint, Pádraig, who is celebrated on St. Patrick’s Day. Here are some places to check out in and around Annapolis to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day:
- Ram’s Head Tavern is having a St. Patrick’s Day Tent Party and Weekend Bash with food and drink specials and live music.
- The sister trio of authentic Irish dining Galway Bay, Killarney House, and Brian Boru have events lined up for the entire month of March.
- Middleton Tavern is having a St. Patrick’s Celebration on Saturday, March 15 with Irish fare, live music all weekend, lots of beads, and drink specials including green beer!
- Park Tavern in Severna Park has transformed their restaurant into Kelly’s Irish Pub, with hearty Irish fare all week and all-day specials.
- URBurger has a St. Patrick’s Menu available from March 15 to 17. Enjoy an Irish Dip Hoagie, Corned Beef n Cabbage, Rueben, and Brats n Kraut.
- Fox’s Den’s St. Patrick Pizza is back, featuring beer-braised corned beef, caraway ricotta, Gruyere and smoked mozzarella, sauerkraut, honey mustard glaze, and a secret sauce.
- Bayside Bull in Edgewater has a special, limited-time Reuben sandwich, which uses smoked and charred corned beef, sliced thin and piled thick on toasted Rye bread. The fresh sauerkraut is key, along with house-made 1000 Island dressing, and a slice of Swiss cheese.
- Always Ice Cream has a special ice cream, Leprechaun Bait—vanilla ice cream, Chex cereal pieces, mini M&Ms, gold coin sprinkles, pretzel balls, and Lucky Charm marshmallows—the entire family will love!
- Schroll’s Brat Shop, a charming family-owned shop, sells ready-to-cook Irish Bangers and buns! They are most known for their Schroll’s Bavarian Süß-Sauerkraut (Sweet-Sauerkraut), which was brought to America from Bavaria in the 1840s.
- It would be remiss to leave off Maryland’s very own Guinness Brewery in Baltimore! Its Irish Village will be open the entire month of March. Enjoy unique guided beer and food events, live music, and a new tiny pub experience.
