Guess the Flick: AMC’s Screen Unseen

September 28, 2025 by Ricky Hartford

Looking for something new, fun, and a little unpredictable to do in Annapolis? Forget scrolling Netflix for the hundredth time, AMC Theatres at the Annapolis Mall has the ultimate movie night twist with its Monday Screen Unseen experience.

Here’s how it works: you buy a discounted ticket (just $7.50!), settle into those super-comfy recliners, grab your popcorn or sliders, and… wait. Because you won’t know what you’re seeing until the lights go down and the movie starts rolling.

That’s right! You don’t know the title beforehand and there’s no hints beyond the rating and runtime. It could be a massive blockbuster like Gladiator II or Jurassic World: Rebirth. It might be a critic’s darling like The Life of Chuck or September 5. Or it could be a tiny indie gem like Oh, Hi or Relay that you never would’ve picked yourself, but end up loving. It’s a total movie mystery, and that’s the thrill. The only exception? If AMC calls it Scream Unseen, then you’ll know you’re in for something spooky or scary.

Why It’s Perfect for Parents’ Night Out

  • Built-in surprise: No decisions, no debates, no “what do you want to see?” back-and-forth. Just show up!
  • Dinner + a show: This isn’t just popcorn, candy, and a soda (though you must get the blue raspberry ICEE for the complete experience). AMC Annapolis serves pizza, fries, sliders, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and more. It’s a no-calorie-counting kind of night. If you’d rather mix it up, head down the escalator to the food court for even more options before the show.
    • Pro tip: Skip the lines! Order ahead on the AMC app, and your food is waiting for you. Easy win!
  • Cozy seats: Kick back, recline, and enjoy the Monday mystery in full comfort.

Mark Your Calendars

Upcoming Screen Unseen dates are:

  • Sept. 29
  • Oct. 6
  • Oct. 13

These events sell out fast, so don’t wait and grab your tickets early!

Pro Tip: Join AMC Stubs

  • Insiders: Free membership + 50% off tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  • A-List: Up to 4 movies every week for less than $30/month. If you love the movies, it pays for itself fast.

And with fall and holiday heavy-hitters like TRON: Ares, The Smashing Machine, Regretting You, Wicked: For Good, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and Zootopia 2, plus all the Oscar buzzy films headed our way, there’s never been a better time to head to AMC Annapolis.

So grab your partner, your best friend, or a group of fellow movie lovers and roll the dice on a Screen Unseen night. Who knows? You might discover your new favorite film before the rest of the world even sees it.

About Ricky Hartford

Ricky Hartford is fueled by cold brew, Celtics highlights, pop culture, and a perfectly placed Oxford comma. By day, he works in marketing and communications at Anne Arundel Community College, where he helps shape the college’s voice through content and storytelling. With over a decade of experience and a Master of Science in Strategic Communications, he’s helped nonprofits and local publications sound sharper, look better, and connect more clearly with their audiences. When he’s not working, he’s probably at the movies, on the basketball court, planning his next vacation, or convincing someone (anyone) to talk about the latest trashy reality show. Annapolis is his happy place, especially if it involves a drink downtown and hanging out by the water.

This week’s Local Food Finds is a bittersweet one.

Bitty & Beau’s has been part of downtown
Annapolis for years, and now the shop is getting ready to close its doors on September 13.

From coffee runs and sweet treats to the familiar faces behind the counter, it’s a place that will
be missed around City Dock.

If you’ve been meaning to stop by, there’s still time for one more cup.
