The SPCA of Anne Arundel County has been given 30 days to vacate PAWS at the Mall following the recent ownership change at Annapolis Mall. The adoption and outreach space has helped more than 2,500 animals find homes since opening in 2020, while also supporting youth programs, volunteer opportunities, and small-animal education. The Lodge Pasadena has closed after Titan Hospitality Group said that business volume no longer supported the restaurant’s operating costs in the current economy. The company is directing customers to The Lodge Annapolis and continues to operate several other Maryland restaurants, including Blackwall Hitch, The Blackwall Barn & Lodge, The Farmhouse, and Smashing Grapes.
- Annapolis Mall Sold In $272 Million Deal
Annapolis Mall has been acquired by Macerich in a $272 million deal that includes the regional shopping center and the adjacent former Sears parcel. The new ownership comes as the mall prepares for a wave of new tenants, including Dick’s House of Sport, Dave & Buster’s, Tesla, Uniqlo, Aerie Offline, Abercrombie, and others expected in 2026 and 2027.
4. Macerich Says It Is Working To Save PAWS At The Mall
After a strong (understatement) community reaction to the news that PAWS at the Mall had been given 30 days to leave Annapolis Mall, Macerich said it did not issue the termination notice (said it was issued by the prior owner) and is now working with the SPCA of Anne Arundel County on a possible solution. PAWS will remain open until the 31st, near the Macy’s and Maggiano’s entrance, while the future of the adoption and outreach space is being worked through. Fingers crossed.
5. Royal Farms Owner Eyes Fresh Market For Former Annapolis Seafood Site
The former Annapolis Seafood property on Forest Drive could be redeveloped into a Rofo Fresh Market, a smaller-format concept from the parent company of Royal Farms. The proposal includes a market and coffee shop, additional retail space, gas pumps under a single canopy, and a more walkable design for the long-vacant property near Tyler Avenue.
6. Naval Academy To Resume Public Visitation Ahead Of Commissioning Week
General public visitation resumed at the U.S. Naval Academy and Naval Support Activity Annapolis on Monday, May 11, 2026, restoring pedestrian access ahead of Commissioning Week, the Blue Angels, and the Herndon Climb. Visitors will need accepted identification and should expect screening, bag checks, and possible delays as elevated security measures remain in place.
