February 24, 2026 by John Frenaye
  1. Fatal Edgewater Crash on Solomons Island Road Claims 23-Year-Old Driver

A 23-year-old Edgewater man died after a single-vehicle crash early February 20 on Solomons Island Road near Poplar Point Road, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Investigators said the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling south when it left the roadway, entered the median, and struck a tree. The driver, identified as Brian Yetter, was taken to a hospital, where he later died, and the Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate.

  1. Glen Burnie Attempted Kidnapping and Robbery Leads to Arrest of 44-Year-Old Man

Anne Arundel County Police arrested a 44-year-old Glen Burnie man after an attempted kidnapping and robbery reported near Old Stage Road and Baylor Road. Police said a woman was standing by her vehicle when a man approached, grabbed at her arms, and tried to force her into the vehicle; she broke free and ran, and the suspect allegedly stole her phone before fleeing. Officers located a suspect nearby and took him into custody, while detectives continue to investigate.

  1. New Retail Tenant Leases Former Fat Face Space on Main Street in Annapolis

A new retail tenant has leased the former Fat Face storefront at 161 Main Street in downtown Annapolis, according to Hyatt Commercial. The roughly 3,000-square-foot space is one of the larger retail locations on Main Street, and Hyatt said it represented the landlord in the deal. Eye On Annapolis reported the new tenant will be another store operated by Abby Adams Boutique owner Autumn Letendre, who also recently opened at 121 Main Street.

4. 3 Pedestrians Struck by Vehicle on Compromise Street in Annapolis

A vehicle struck 3 pedestrians on Compromise Street in Annapolis in the afternoon on February 2. An Annapolis Fire Department spokesperson said 2 women — a mother in her 50s and her adult daughter in her early 30s — were treated and transported to a local trauma center in stable condition, while a 3rd female patient was evaluated at the scene and declined transport. The driver was not injured. The Annapolis Police Department had a slightly different version, saying that there were four injured, including a male and a female who declined treatment at the scene. They also said the car left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk.

5.Southwest BWI Changes Add Bag Fees and Assigned Seating, but Credit Card Workaround Remains

While Southwest Airlines is still the dominant carrier at BWI, travelers should expect major changes, including checked-bag fees on many fare types and assigned seating for flights operating in 2026. Southwest began charging bag fees on many fares in 2025, while still offering free checked bags for some customers based on fare type, elite status, or eligible credit card benefits. Eye On Annapolis highlights a “smart workaround” for frequent BWI flyers: using a Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card to keep a free checked bag benefit and help offset the airline’s new fee structure.
