Annapolis police have identified the woman found unresponsive on a Truxtun Park hiking trail as Portia Latrice Jones, 44, of California. Officers were called to the trail near the tennis courts at about 2:36 p.m. January 28, and preliminary information indicates she may have slipped because of icy conditions. Police said they are awaiting the medical examiner’s autopsy report and that no foul play is suspected.

Anne Arundel County police said they arrested a 34-year-old man from Baltimore after an alleged attempted rape reported on February 5 in the Whitmore Court and Loyd Lane area of Glen Burnie. Police said an adult woman was in her vehicle near a dumpster when an unknown man approached, sexually assaulted her, and tried to pull her into his vehicle. The woman drove off and reported being followed, and officers later located a vehicle matching the description near a nearby Lowe’s; police said the driver refused to stop before the vehicle ended in a snow embankment, and the suspect was taken into custody after being found hiding behind a dumpster.
