Cirque du Soleil, the innovative theater troupe, is set to dazzle Baltimore audiences once again with its enchanting holiday show, ‘Twas the Night Before. Returning for the first time since 2019, the exclusive engagement at the Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center promises 17 performances (Nov. 24-Dec. 3) filled with the magic of the season.
This inaugural holiday production is inspired by Clement Clarke Moore’s classic poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (you know the one– sugar plums, reindeer, and a bowl full of jelly!) The plot of the story revolves around a young girl rediscovering the joy of the holidays. With a cast of 26 international artists, the show features breathtaking acrobatics, lovable characters, and a soundtrack of holiday favorites reinvented by Cirque du Soleil.
‘Twas the Night Before… is Cirque du Soleil’s first holiday show, based on the classic poem “A Visit from Saint Nicolas” by Clement Clarke Moore. Memorable lines from this cherished classic inspired Cirque’s story about a jaded young girl who rediscovers the magic of the holidays. A festive flurry of love and cheer created especially for families, ‘Twas the Night Before… features thrilling acrobatics, lovable characters – and a soundtrack including holiday classics re-invented by Cirque du Soleil. The show was conceived and is directed by Cirque du Soleil Senior Artistic Director James Hadley, a 25-year veteran of circus productions and live theater.
