The familiar story of The Nutcracker takes on local significance in this world-premiering production by Artistic Director Nicole Kelsch. Infused with historical detail and regional charm, this adaptation transports audiences to 19th-century Annapolis. In this telling, Clara’s Uncle Drosselmeier doesn’t give her just any gift. This German doll is an heirloom steeped in their family’s history. When Clara’s dreams transport her to the Annapolis Harbor during the War of 1812, the wicked Rat King and his crew have sailed into harbor to wage war against her Nutcracker Prince.
