National Capital Orchid Society Annual Orchid Show & Sale

Homestead Gardens is pleased to host the National Capital Orchid Society’s Annual Orchid Show. FREE and open to the public. Over 100 varieties of orchids and thousands of plants will be on display in Homestead’s greenhouse with experts to answer all your questions. Workshops and exhibits will educate you on any and all aspects of selecting and growing orchids at home. Food and beverages are available. Plenty of free parking.
The National Capital Orchid Society (NCOS) is a remarkable nonprofit organization with a deep-rooted commitment to the growing and conservation of exquisite orchids, as well as the invaluable education of the public. For nearly three-quarters of a century, NCOS has been proudly hosting an annual show in the vibrant Washington D.C. area, captivating orchid enthusiasts from near and far. In 2019, NCOS took a leap forward by relocating their show to the enchanting Homestead Gardens, a move that propelled the event to new heights. Homestead Gardens provided the perfect backdrop for the showcase, offering an immersive experience that left visitors in awe. And now, as we eagerly anticipate the 2024 exhibit, we are thrilled to announce that it will be held in the back of the Greenhouse at our Davidsonville store, an idyllic setting that will only enhance the beauty of the orchids on display.
The dedication and creativity of the members from the Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia Orchid Societies deserve special mention. These passionate individuals pour their hearts and souls into crafting breathtaking displays that truly capture the essence of these magnificent blooms. Prepare to be captivated by the artistry and expertise on display! Homestead Gardens, once again, stands ready to provide visitors with an exceptional experience. As you make your way out, be sure to explore the specially curated end cap, conveniently positioned at the point of egress. Here, you will find “Everything you need for orchids,” including a wide selection of top-quality soil, pots, and fertilizers. We have left no stone unturned in ensuring that all your orchid-related needs are met.
