Katherine Haas Book: Little Jade

On July 24 at 6:30 pm, the popular Katherine Haas, retired Key School teacher, is launching her book Little Jade at the Eastport-Annapolis Neck Public Library. The daughter of a Chinese father and German mother, Katherine sailed to the United States at the young age of 11. This young woman navigated identity, culture, and politics in a world very different from the one she knew. From dancing for Rodgers and Hammerstein, to receiving many marriage proposals, her life reads like a novel!
This Katherine Haas book will have you turning the pages! Little Jade is Katherine’s whimsical meditation on a life well-lived. Little Jade seeks to answer questions around what makes us who we are. In it, she meanders through the valleys and troughs of childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Mrs. Haas has a wonderful way of storytelling. She bravely recounts moments of experiencing prejudice, assault, and professional abuse in a gentle way that is accessible to any age. Yet, she does not shy away from telling things as they are. This book is a wonderful tribute to this treasure of a human. You will not want to miss celebrating her at the launch party!
