The true story of America’s longest-held prisoner of war during one of our nation’s most turbulent eras.
Based on the book by Tom Philpott, Glory Denied is the story of Colonel Jim Thompson, who recalls episodes of his nine-year ordeal which include escape attempts, torture, and the overwhelming loneliness of years in solitary confinement. In the years after his return to the U.S., Jim struggles with adapting to his new life and the painful memories that come with it.
The Opera is proud to support Hospice of the Chesapeake’s Veterans Program by donating a portion of ticket sales to this critical initiative. This unique program provides support for Veterans in hospice care including a formal ceremony of gratitude and appreciation for their military service. This ceremony brings together family and friends for what is often the first and last opportunity for recognition.
