Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade
It’s one of the best nights of the year in Annapolis! Dozens of boats in all shapes and sizes covered in thousands of colored lights parade through the Annapolis Harbor for two magical hours.
The beloved celebration started back in 1981 by spirited EYC members Jim and Shirley Langer. They lived on their boat in Spa Creek. The story goes that one cold December night they strung Christmas lights on their boat and cruised around singing carols.
The next year, friends joined in on the fun and by 1988 the parade was given the designation of “Official Maryland Winter Celebration.” These days it’s recognized by USA Today as one of the top 10 holiday parades in America. The rest of us just call it our favorite way of making the holidays merry and bright.
