Annapolis Moms Media and AACPL team up to benefit the Community Pantry at Discoveries.
“You get a diaper! And you get a diaper!” I can hear Oprah now! The time is quickly approaching to donate to The Community Pantry at Discoveries for the Diaper Drive sponsored by Annapolis Moms.
To donate to the Diaper Drive, visit any of the Anne Arundel County Public Library branch locations, during their normal business hours April 15-30.
“We are focusing on diapers and pull-ups for this drive and we are highly in need of diaper size 3-7 and pull-ups,” says Rachel Myers, Branch Manager at Discoveries: The Library at the Mall. The Community Pantry also accepts hygiene supplies (i.e. diaper cream, shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.), menstrual products, and incontinence supplies.
Myers attests, “Diaper need is very prevalent in our county, preventing kids from attending daycare because families can’t provide a stash of diapers and oftentimes causing kids to wear diapers that aren’t the right size.” With diapers being so expensive, but ineligible for SNAP/WIC benefits, the hope is that by helping local families meet their most basic needs, they are then able to focus on other important things, such as helping their kids succeed in kindergarten.
The Discoveries branch has a bilingual staff to accommodate the approximate 60% of Spanish-speaking families who benefit from the pantry’s distribution and introduce other library resources including programs like Conversation Club, where patrons can practice their English skills.
You can even donate supplies online via Amazon and Target. For any and all Anne Arundel County families in need, click here for more information on how The Community Pantry can support you.
