Annapolis Restaurant Week is like a competitive sport. Stretching. Hydrating. Wearing pants with forgiveness. Making dinner reservations turns into strategy. You either book early or you’re eating at 9:45 p.m. next to the hostess stand.
I knew I had to get in on the fun! We landed at Severn Inn for their three-course prix fixe menu, nestled right by the Naval Academy Bridge with a beautiful view of the Severn River. Luckily, we got a reservation early enough to watch the light fade over the river while indulging in some good eats.
First Course

I went classic: Caesar salad. Creamy parmesan dressing, shaved parm, croutons. It was standard and everything you’d expect from a caesar salad. A wonderful teaser before the main course.
My sister chose something a bit more extravagant: smoked pork belly parmesan on sourdough with marinara, mozzarella, and giardiniera. This thing had layers. Salty, smoky, tangy, cheesy. The years of eating avocado toast prepared her for this delicious appetizer.
Second Course
I ordered the grilled salmon with roasted pepper cream, green beans, and garlic potatoes. The salmon was cooked just right: tender, flaky, not even a hint of dryness. The roasted pepper cream was a great dip to go with the fish, potatoes, and green beans. Garlic potatoes? As someone who has been on a high protein, high fiber diet, it was as if I was greeting an old friend. Green beans were fresh. Mom would be proud that I ate all of them.
Across the table: shrimp pasta with roasted garlic cream, lemon, parsley, linguine, shaved parmesan. I really wanted a bite but was afraid of being stabbed with a fork. I made pasta the next night in its honor.
Third Course

I chose the pineapple olive oil cake with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Light. Not overly sweet. The olive oil gave it that subtle richness. The caramel was smooth.
My sister ordered the chocolate pie with ganache, chocolate crumble, chocolate custard. I was able to get a taste of this one and I was very thankful. These desserts required a post-meal walk across the Naval Academy Bridge after (just kidding, we rolled ourselves home).
Final Thoughts
Portions were solid. View was phenomenal. Vibes were casual. We conquered Annapolis Restaurant Week just right. I’m already trying to figure out where else I can cram in before the end of restaurant week on March 1.
