Spring has sprung, and now’s the time to plant your flowers. The 52nd Annual Historic Annapolis Plant Sale at the William Paca House & Garden returns May 9 from 10 AM to 4 PM and May 10 from noon to 4 PM, giving you the perfect opportunity to stock up for the season.
Historic Annapolis is now certified as a Maryland’s Best Native Plants Retailer by the Maryland Department of Agriculture. With more than 8,000 plants on offer, all carefully grown by local gardeners, this is a can’t-miss event.
Wondering what to add to your garden? This year’s Paca Garden Plant Sale has something for everyone, no matter your preferences or experience level.
You’ll find classics like perennials and annuals, perfect for filling garden beds. For added height, consider gomphrenas and foxgloves, which can grow up to three feet tall, along with varieties like cleomes, cosmos, giant zinnias, nicotiana, chocolate lace, tithonia, and more.
For the chefs and bakers out there, there are plenty of options. Italian peppers, artichokes, melons, and more will be available, helping you create a farm-to-table experience right at home.
Vines are a low-maintenance, drought-resistant option. Two varieties available are Dwarf Morning Glory and Kanoko Red Speckled Morning Glory. If you’re a bee lover, check out corkscrew vines—a pollinator-friendly option that can grow up to six feet tall, with distinctive spiral-shaped flowers.
All of this can feel a bit overwhelming, which is why the Curated Garden Collections were created. Choose from the Native Plant, Shade, and Sun collections, all thoughtfully grouped by expert gardeners—so all you have to do is plant, water, and enjoy.
It’s a great way to support local growers. There’s no admission fee, and Historic Annapolis members receive a 10% discount on purchases. The sale also takes place over Mother’s Day weekend, offering a perfect opportunity to spend time together or pick up a thoughtful gift. Proceeds directly support Historic Annapolis programs, maintenance, and operations.
